Putting together a skin care regimen can sometimes be troublesome for us all. We visit many beauty counters and get new recommendations each time. We want to believe beauty consultants are selling us the best product. Growing up, I was never taught about any type of skin care besides protecting your skin from the sun. My mothers only advice was never wear makeup, as it will give you wrinkles. I never wore makeup until my early twenties. After visiting my first Mac counter as many new makeup enthusiasts do, I bought my first moisturizer. It was the Mineralized Charged Water Moisture Gel (it’s a good cream). Later on, I began to research skin care and discovered affordable and high-end products that worked for my oily skin. Besides the hassle of finding the correct toner or face wash, don’t forget to drink water and wear sunscreen!
This is not a beauty product but more so a tool. If like me, you used a wet rag to scrub your face, stop now! A Clarisonic will do the work for you. The brush head comes in several options catering to all skin problems. You can also buy a facial brush it works the same.
Providing your skin with moisture is one of the most important steps in creating a day-to-day routine. Whether you have oily, dry, sensitive or combination skin this is the one step you shouldn’t skip. I first must talk about KIEHL’S Ultra Facial Cream, a perfect moisturizer for all skin types. It works for both day and night. I enjoy the moisture it provides my skin. Now, during the spring and summer months, I like using a gel base product like CLINIQUE’S Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. It feels refreshing and dries quickly. Another one with a similar consistency is the MARY KAY Timewise Age-Fighting Moisturizer.
If on a Sunday afternoon, you did all the laundry and prepared Sunday dinner, then its time for a mask. ORIGINS: Active Charcoal Mask is helping my skin diminish blackheads. It’s a good mask to deep clean your skin once a week. Clarisonic’s clay mask leaves my skin feeling extremely smooth, I love it! I switch between the two. An eye-mask is also a good product to use. Sephora’s eye-masks covers all the under-eye skin care benefits you are looking for, it sells for $5 dollars!
Face wash/ Cleanser
For an everyday face wash, NEUTROGENA’S Fresh Foaming Cleanser is an essential. It’s a two in one deal. It removes your makeup while gently cleansing your face. When my skin needs more attention, GARNIER ‘S Blackhead Eliminating Scrub will get the job done.
Toner is not part of everyone’s routine, some of us think we don’t need it, it’s an unnecessary step, I get it, however many beauty consultants say its important as it balances your skin after cleansing your face. Which makes sense, doesn’t it? I don’t have a favorite one, but I like using this .
Applying eye-cream should be part of your day/night-time routine. Searching for a cream depends on what you are trying to forestall. Some people hate the darkness under their eyes others want to reduce the fine lines. I want to prevent both but also keep it very hydrated. Currently obsessed with KIEHL’S Creamy eye treatment with Avocado, very hydrating. While it hydrates and reduces the darkness under my eyes, its creamy consistency wins me over.
Having oily skin, face oils was the least of my worries in my skin care routine. But during the past year or so I’ve learned to appreciate the product. I am using ORIGIN’S Plantscription Youth-renewing Face Oil only at night about once every three weeks. It feels AMAZING!
I hope this gives you an idea on skin care items worth having in your daily routine. What is your favorite eye-cream and moisturizer? We would love to know! Share with us in the comment section.
