DIY-Advent Calendar

Happy December!

While some of us are in no rush to bring in the New Year, we all look forward to presents, food and wine! This year we decided on a fun way to countdown the days until Christmas creating our very own Advent Calendar! It’s a simple project and you may already have the tools to make it. Grab your children, a pen and paper and enjoy our first Do-it-yourself blog!

Here are the items you will need:

DIY

24 large paper cups

  Instant Krazy glue/scotch tape

scissors

decorative stickers/ decorative string

2 pieces of black construction paper

2 different types of wrapping paper

1 large cardboard

THE FUN PART OF IT ALL IS THE SURPRISES YOUR KIDS WILL GET EACH DAY

( Yes! these warm socks fit into the cups)DIY-Ideas for stuffers

  1. You can start by placing your cardboard on a flat surface (floor works best) depending on the shape you want to create such as an ornament, snowman, gingerbread house or a tree place the 24 cups into order. Next, outline the desired shape-cut it out with a blade or a scissor.

Your tree or shape should look like this, don’t worry if it’s not perfect! Once you place your cups again you can perfect the shape.

Now, cut 24 pieces of wrapping paper into small squares. You will use these to cover the plastic cups later on. Meanwhile, have your older child write the numbers 1-24 on a construction paper with a pencil. Cut them out one by one. DIY

Place your surprise toy inside the cup-cover the cup with the wrapping paper.

Once you’ve wrapped it nicely take decorative string-wrap it around twice and make a cute bow, do this for all 24 cups. Then, glue or use tape to place them down on the cardboard.DIY

Place your cut out numbers neatly on each cup. Using tape or glue will give you the same result. We used tape.DIY

You should now have all of your 24 cups place on the cardboard, numbered and filled with a surprise, your shape is ready to get decorated!DIY
